Requirements for Goat Purchase
These Requirements are non negotiable !
They must be confirmed before you can buy a goat From us !!
1)the goat must be fed grass hay twice a
day , just graze and brush is not enough to keep a goat
healthy , hay should have lots of green and not just
yellow to assure proper nutrition
we also feed alfalfa hay (first or third cut not second )
or alfalfa pellets , and grain , these are especially
important for pregnant and lactating does And growing kids .
2) the goat needs to have adequate housing ,
not a dog house ! Needs to be with a fenced
outdoor area that they have free access to from their shelter , goats
hate the rain , they need enough space
to stay warm and dry during bad weather and to have plenty
of space to move around , should be 4x8 or 6’x8’ , or really even bigger is
better if you can , shelter needs a way to shut
goats in at night to protect them from predators , For that reason we require
a four sided shelter with a door .
3) goats need to have regular hoof trimming every 2-4 weeks
4) we will not sell a goat to anyone who intends to keep
a goat in the house , being outdoors is very important for a goat’s health
(temporary in house for bottle babies is acceptable, but not for permanent)
5) if you are buying a milk goat from us , you will need to milk her twice a day
or dry her up in a safe way for her health , or buy her with her kid
to keep her from getting sick
6) if buying a bottle baby , source of milk needs to be figured out and secured
at your house before picking up baby , we recommend goat’s milk for the most
natural diet , if goat’s milk is unavailable , quality whole cow’s milk from the
grocery store is still more digestible than nearly every milk replacer on the market
formulas tend to clog up their digestive system , and complications from this is one
of the number one killers of bottle babies .Newborns are going to need more
frequent feedings and cannot go long periods of time without a bottle ,
homes for babies need to be committed to a feeding schedule that is best for the baby.
For generations goats have become thought of by society as a throw away animal , put it in a field and you don't have to feed it or take care of it . As shepherds , we are trying to assure that the goats that come from us are treated well and cared for by their new family. What it comes down to , is nothing is free . Someone must pay ... either you as a goat owner pay for the things the goats need , or the goats will pay for the lack of those things that are not provided with their health and safety . This is why we are careful about the homes our goats go to .

Pig Home Requirements
Pigs are a versatile animal that can be kept indoors or outdoors ,
or a combination of the two . They can be potty trained either to a litter
box like a cat or to go to the door and go outside like a dog .
google potty training methods if you need pointers on this ,there is
some great information out there .
Our Pig home requirements are simple . Feed it properly , Water it securely to prevent spilling
of water and salt poisoning , House it , Trim its hooves or equivalent
We cannot express vehemently enough that you need to be careful with how you feed
your pig . You need to adhere to feeding 3-7%of bodyweight in feed weight per day and
provide a balanced diet in order to avoid obesity in your pig , this will give your pig
the best chance at a long healthy life . Pigs are not a dog , do your research , ask
questions before buying a pig . Many pigs end up in rescues because people have not done their research
on adult size and feeding protocols , and behavior . Do not plan on keeping pigs with other species .
They need their own pen . Pigs are both predatory and prey animals rolled into one .
when kept with other animals they may and probably will bite them , and pigs have been known
to eat small animals like chickens and baby goats or lambs . When considering adding a
pig to your household , have a contingency plan for what you will do with your pig if you have
a dog in your household , pigs and dogs should not be left unattended together because either
the dog or the pig could be injured.
